Duration: 1-2 hours
Location: Columboola EEC or offsite (at schools)
This professional development opportunity is offered to primary school teachers and demonstrates how to teach key concepts within the digital technologies' curriculum from years 3-6. Key areas covered include: algorithms and implementation with students writing code to produce digital solutions to problems. Other areas that can be covered are data representation and digital systems through the use of BBC micro:bits (class set can be included-subject to availability). Activities shown are both plugged and unplugged and can be tailored to suit schools need.
Please contact the centre for more information.

Digital technologies
Year 3-4 Define simple problems, and describe and follow a sequence of steps and decisions (algorithms) needed to solve them.
Implement simple digital solutions as visual programs with algorithms involving branching (decisions) and user input. Year 5-6 Define simple problems, and describe and follow a sequence of steps and decisions (algorithms) needed to solve them.
Implement digital solutions as simple visual programs involving branching, iteration (repetition), and user input.
Examine the main components of common digital systems and how they may connect together to form networks to transmit data.
Examine how whole numbers are used to represent all data in digital systems.
